Exotic plants are introduced from other countries and are not or else found locally. These plants are adjactly opposite to the native plants, which are found naturally in an environment. The exotic plants can unfavorably affect the ecosystem.

The large number of exotic plants is introduced from other parts of the world through ages. Few of these plants have turned into weeds. These plants grow and flourish without any hindrance and cause harm to the environment. How to grow exotic fruit plants:

  • Before growing these plants, it is essential to select a site, which provides full sunlight, as these trees grow best in such areas. Next, test the soil for the proper pH balance. Generally, the pH level should be 5 to 7. You can use some treatments in order to bring the soil to the proper pH level, in case the soil is unbalanced.
  • Add organic matter such as manure, compost material and leaves into the soil in order to provide valuable nutrients to the plants.
  • You need to loosen the soil with the help of the tiller, if the soil is not well- drained. The star fruit and lychee fruit trees cannot tolerate heavy water on the roots.
  • When the upper surface of the soil appears to dry out water the soil. The exotic fruit plant such as Kumqaut needs plenty of water, while the lychee tree requires less water as it is drought tolerant. Therefore, after watering you need to touch the soil with hand, and check whether the soil sticks your hand. If the soil does not stick, that means it is not sticky.
  • Pruning should be done regularly. The exotic plants such as guava and lychee require daily maintenance in order to remove damaged leaves and branches.
  • Transfer the exotic plant in a larger pot in the outdoors, having the warm weather and moist conditions, which encourage the growth of a variety of fruit-bearing trees.

Exotic fruit trees offer home gardeners the chance to cultivate plants providing color in the garden and a special flavor in the kitchen. However, these plants can be demanding plants to grow. They require plenty of sunlight, warm weather and plenty of care and attention.
